LIONS CLUB OF GOLD COAST TALLEBUDGERA

About Us

Lions Clubs

Lions Clubs International LogoLions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto.

Lions Australia is part of an international association, filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy.

The purpose of  a Lions Club is to raise funds to help members of the community both in their local areas and in the broader international arena.

Our History, Area and Structure

The Club was chartered on the 12th May 2011 and our formal Charter presentation occurred on the 11th June 2011. Members are primarily drawn from Tallebudgera, Elanora and surrounding areas. We are part of Multiple Lions District 201Q1 encompassing the southern Queensland, southern Brisbane, Gold Coast and parts of Northern NSW near the border. Our Club is an incorporated association and is structured such that all members are members of the board with a number of members as Office Bearers. We have a President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Director and three Vice-Presidents with responsibilities for administration, fundraising and community service.

Our Aims

We focus our fundraising efforts towards our immediate local community and the broader Gold Coast Community. We also support other groups in need where possible including a range of the Lions Foundations across Australia and include at least one international project per year.

Our Achievements

Through our fundraising efforts inclusive of grants since we started our Club has raised and distributed more than $20,000 each year. Our support has consisted of a small All Terrain Vehicle for the Riding for Disabled, contributions to local schools, support of CanTeen (Kids Living with Cancer), a Nepalese School and the Hoc Mai Women's and Children's Hospital in Vietnam.

Examples of current commitments include; a weekly Breakfast Club at Tallebudgera Primary School, financial support of three schools in our area, CanTeen, Lions Children of Courage, the Riding for the Disabled and two Leo Clubs.
